That's the answer, i used a synthesizer. :)

I did not use any program, i used a keyboard that i connected to my computer and then played it while using a synthesizer, recording the tracks with audacity and then just arranging every part of the song so it sounded like they do.

You can achieve an 8-bit sound in other ways, but i prefer that one because it gives you more control on what sounds you can make.
